The song “The Kick” was released about 3 months ago, and the video came out via XV’s twitter yesterday. There is a reason why XV is quickly becoming one of my favorite rappers, and this song proves why. He always has great beats and a sick flow/style. He could rap over the worst beat and turn the song into a masterpiece. He just has a je-ne-sais-quoi-swag about him.
The song and video’s theme is “Inception,” arguably one of the most beloved movies out. If you’ve seen inception, the “kick” refers to the awakening of an individual from his or her dream. Most easily recognizable at the end of “The Kick”, you can see XV samples the song featured at the end of Inception.
