From Queens, New York emerges one of the most talented artists I’ve seen in a while– Jemyle Jones. The first video “Blue Sky Pan” is Jemyle rapping over Common’s “Mr. Blue Sky” which was originally produced by No I.D. Jones’s also samples a beloved childhood movie of mine– Hook. Unlike new up and coming rappers these days, Jemyle does not spend 2 minutes talking about how good of a rapper he is. Instead, he discusses the problems of living in a Peter Pan world “where its so easy to believe in fairytales these rappers tell” who really only “choose bliss over being intelligent.” Jones’s lyrics are complex and detailed. It is so refreshing to hear a rapper speak instead of blabber.
The Second video “They Don’t Know” further displays Jemyle’s talent. He also produced and directed this video, you can definitely say Jemyle has a lot of things going for him. I can GUARANTEE Jemyle will be blowing up within the next few years. Write it down, memorize it, repeat it to your friends– Jemyle Jones.
